On Saturday, 7th December 2024, during the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Archangel Michael in Golders Green, His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain ordained Deacon Dr. Dimitrios Mislis to the Holy Priesthood. The ordination took place amidst the joyous participation of clergy and faithful, marking a significant moment for the parish in Golders Green and the Archdiocese.
His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis concelebrated with His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas. Among those serving were the V. Revd Archimandrite Vissarion Kokliotis, Priest in charge, the V. Revd Archim. Christodoulos Kokliotis, the Revd Oeconomos Dr Kristian Akselberg and the Revd Oeconomos Nikolaos Kokkinos. The Revd Archdeacon Dr. George Tsourous also served.
Addressing His Eminence, the clergy, and the faithful present, Deacon Dimitrios delivered a heartfelt speech filled with humility, gratitude, and commitment. He acknowledged the immense honor and responsibility of his calling, expressing his awe at the trust placed in him. Fr. Dimitrios thanked His Eminence for his paternal guidance, his spiritual father and mentors for their wisdom, and his parish community for their encouragement and love. He also paid tribute to his family, particularly his wife Ioanna and their sons Ioannis and Konstantinos, for their patience, sacrifices, and unwavering support. With emotion, Fr. Dimitrios reflected on the transformative nature of his journey, acknowledging his unworthiness but emphasising the indescribable joy and blessing of serving Christ. He vowed to dedicate himself tirelessly to the Church, striving to remain faithful to his calling and to the trust placed in him. Concluding his address, he asked for the prayers of all present, seeking God’s continued guidance in his ministry.
In his response, Archbishop Nikitas offered wise and pastoral counsel, urging Fr. Dimitrios to embrace his ministry with humility, simplicity, and courage. He praised him for his dedication, discretion, and virtues, underscoring the vital responsibility of leading others to the truth of Christ. The Archbishop welcomed Fr. Dimitrios into the ranks of the Archdiocese’s clergy, encouraging him to serve as an instrument of God’s grace.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the faithful, together with the Parish Council and clergy, offered their warm wishes to the newly ordained priest. A festive reception in the community hall concluded the day, celebrating this momentous occasion in the life of the Archdiocese.
